Funeral services for Henry W. Bristow were held in the Methodist church Thursday afternoon with Rev. M. L. Metcalfe, of Sioux City, formerly a pastor here, officiating.Mr. Bristow was born in London, England, November 9, 1850, and came to America at the age of 18. He first settled at Morrison, Ill., and later came to Iowa in the early ’70s. About 20 years ago he retired from the farm and since has lived in Merrill.
He was married to Sarah E. Treeby February 6, 1881, who died December 13, 1929. Nine living children mourn the loss of their father. They are: Thomas, of Minneapolis, Minn.; Mortimer, of Valentine, Neb.; Raymond, of Worthington, Minn.; William, of Red Lake Falls, Minn.; Mrs. Clara Stinton, of Santa Monica; Clarence, of Sioux City; Mrs. Laura Anderson, of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Blanche Olson, of Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Grace Schindel, of Merrill. One son, Walter died at the age of four years in 1894. A sister, Mrs. Edith Brown, of Adaville, and a brother, Edward, of Sioux City, also survive.
