Bernard Ray Peck
Bernard Ray Peck, 64, of
Hawarden, Iowa, died Saturday,
September 25,1999 at the
Hawarden Community Hospital.
Services were held Tuesday,
September 28 at the First
Baptist Church, Hawarden,
with Rev. Doug Olson officiating.
Burial was in Riverside
Cemetery, Akron. Porter Funeral
Home, Hawarden, was
in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Peck was born March
13,1935 near Westfield, Iowa,
the son of Bert and Lillian
(Butler) Peck. He married
Joyce Barger September 5,
1959 at Pipestone, Minnesota.
He was employed as a
welder at the American Equipment
in Sioux City, Iowa. He
later was refrigerator mechanic
with Heyl Trucking in
Akron. They ran a dairy farm
near Alcester, South Dakota
for 17 years before moving to
Hawarden in 1991. Bernard
worked at LG Everist in Hawarden
until retirement in
1998.
They attended Big Springs
Baptist Church near Alcester
and later First Baptist Church
in Hawarden after moving to
Hawarden. He enjoyed woodworking,
gardening, his
grandchildren arid made wonderful
vegetable soup.
Survivors include his wife;
a son, Steven Ray Peck of Kansas
City, Missouri; four daughters,
Pamela Kay Peck, of Tucson,
Arizona, Peggy Sue Peck,
Penny Renee Vander Feen and
her husband Warren, and
Cathy Marie Peck, all of Hawarden;
four sisters, Dorothy
"Berniece" Hansen, of Rapid
City, South Dakota, Mary Lou
Rich and her husband Robert,
Marlys Brewer and Marilyn
Peck all of Sioux City, Iowa;
four grandchildren; and his
parents-in-law, James and
Vera Barger of Sioux City,
Iowa.
Mr. Peck was preceded in
death by his parents and nine
brothers arid sisters.Akron Register Tribune
