Duane Gollhofer, 69, of Golden, Colo., died Thursday, May 13, 2010, in Wheat Ridge, Colo., after a lengthy battle with leukemia.

Duane Francis Gollhofer was born Nov. 17, 1940, in Kingsley, the son of Frank and Blanche (Timmins) Gollhofer.

Duane graduated from Kingsley Public School in Kingsley. He served in the United States Marines and became a licensed mastered electrician of Colorado. His career included wiring and troubleshooting microwave communications systems in 27 different countries during the Viet Nam era, as well as constructing living quarters for the off-shore drilling platforms.

He held various positions within the fire protection field including designing, selling and installing hospital and hotel fire alarm systems.

In 1990, he formed his own company, Table Mountain Home Repair, retiring in 2008.

He was a Chamber member of the City of Golden.

Duane and his wife, Joyce, wintered in Carmel, Calif., for the last 20 years.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce; a son, Bryan and his wife, Katherine, of Long Beach, Calif.; one sister, Dorothy Ruhland and her husband, Larry, of Le Mars; four brothers, Jerome and his wife, Judy of Kingsley, James and his wife, Sherryl, of Thornton, Colo., Larry of Fairbault, Minn., and Randy and his wife, Cindy of Orange City; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his a nephew, Todd Gollhofer and a brother-in-law, Dale Kessenich.

Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 18, at Rockland Community Church in Golden, Colo., with the Rev. Ken Williams and the Rev. Ed Lange officiating. Burial was in the Golden Cemetery, Golden, Colo., led by Deacon James Gollhofer.

The Foothills Chapel Cremation and Funeral Service of Golden, Colo., was in charge of arrangements.
