Akron Resident Many YearsMrs. Daisy A. Peters, an early-day Akron resident, passed away from a heart attack at the home of her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Burnett in Akron, early Tuesday morning, January 30, 1945, at the age of 75 years, 7 months and 4 days.
Daisy Alice Kennedy, the second daughter of James F. and Mary Kennedy, was born at Freeport, Illinois, on June 26, 1869. She later moved with her parents to Charles City, Iowa. When a young woman, she came to Akron with her folks, her father, James F. Kennedy, buying a general store here and conducting it for many years. She was united in marriage with August E. Peters at the home of her parents here in the fall of 1892. A.E. Peters will be remembered by many old-timers, as he worked in the Akron Savings Bank when his brother-in-law, H. J. Thode, was its cashier. He also clerked in the store of his father-in-law, J.F. Kennedy, and later in a store at Chatsworth. For a while he served as deputy sheriff of Plymouth County, before moving to Lake Andes, S.D., Battle Lake, Minn., and finally to Stratham, New Hampshire, where he passed away in December, 1939. Since then Mrs. Peters has made her home in Akron with her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Burnett.
Mrs. Peters leaves to mourn her departure, her sister, Mrs. F. W. Burnett and family; a brother, Gene Kennedy, of Portland, Oregon; an adopted son, Melvin, of Long Beach, Calif.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon in the Burnett home, conducted by Rev. A. A. Howe, pastor of the Methodist church. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.
