SIOUX: (Special Correspondence)
The community was both shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden death of Mrs. Charles Hoffman of this place and life long resident of the county. Mrs. Hoffman had been ill only a few days and nothing serious was thought of her illness until Sunday morning when acute peritonitis developed and she passed away early Monday morning after hours of intense suffering. She leaves to mourn her death, besides her sorrowing husband, four boys, Elmer, Ray, Clarence and George, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Fursee, of this place and Mrs. Lena DeWolfe of Canton, S.D. Her only daughter preceded her in death but when an infant, and her oldest son, John, died during the late war and was buried here last summer. Mrs. Hoffman was a good woman, who spent her life in service, devoted at all times to her family, and as kind a neighbor as could be found. The funeral was held on Wednesday at the Adaville church.
