Former Well Known LeMars Man Succumbs to Heart AttackMrs. LeRoy Cooper has received word of the death of Max Ewers, of Los Angeles, California, which occurred October 15. Mr. Ewers was up and around and at business as usual that day and made no complaint upon retiring that evening. His wife arose during the night and found that he had died in his sleep. A doctor who was called said that death had been caused by coronary thrombosis.
Max Ewers was born in LeMars and grew up here. When finishing high school, he left LeMars for Halbrite, Saskatchewan, Canada, where he farmed for 12 years. While in Canada he married Pearl Nordquist. They moved to Los Angeles, where he entered the second-hand car business.
Survivors include his wife, and one daughter, Maxine, a teacher in a Los Angeles high school; one son, Grant, a pilot in the Army Air Transport command; one brother, Claire, of Los Angeles.
Burial was made on October 22 in the Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery at Los Angeles, where a great many LeMars people now living in California attended the services.
