Funeral services were held Thursday, January 18, at 9:30 a.m., at St. James Catholic Church for Mrs. Mary Hoffman, 73, who passed away Monday, January 15, 1962, after a sickness which lasted only one week. Burial was in Calvary cemetery under the direction of the Wiltgen-Luedtke funeral home. Rev. L. J. La Voile will officiated at last rites. Friends called at the Wiltgen-Luedtke funeral home after 1 p.m., on Wednesday until service time. The parish rosary was recited on Wednesday at 8 p.m.

Mary Ellen Faust was born Mar. 26, 1888 at Dyersville, Iowa. She came to this community as a young a young girl. She was married to Delbert Hoffman on January 10, 1905, at Merrill. After their marriage the couple farmed near Akron. She has been a resident of Le Mars for the past 25 years.

Mrs. Hoffman was preceded in death by her husband; three sons, Paull, John, and George and by a brother.

Survivors include five sons; Delbert J., Bernard, and Charles Hoffman all of Le Mars, Maynard of Trent, South Dakota, Cleo of Hawarden, Iowa; three daughters. Mrs. Ralph Heyl, Mrs. LeRoy Welter and Mrs. Joe Lewis, all of Le Mars. She has 34 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Will Faust of Westfield; three sisters, Mrs. Phillip Beaubien of Westfield, Mrs. Oscar Kapfer of Akron, and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer of Ireton.
