Ida Marie Marienau

Ida Marie Marienau, 89, of Hawarden, la., died Saturday (Aug.,17, 1991), at the Hawarden Community hospital.

Services were held Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran church in Hawarden. Rev. Loren Volgler officiated. Burial was in St. Peter's cemetery in Brunsville, under direction of Porter-Dow funeral home in Hawarden. Visitation was held Monday with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Marienau, the former Ida Berg, was born Feb. 27, 1902, in Grant township, Plymouth county, the daughter of Herman and Margaret (Heeren) Berg. She grew up and attended school there. She married Bernard H. Marienau Sept. 22, 1922, in Le Mars. The couple made their home in Plymouth county. Mr. Marienau died in 1971 and she moved to Hawarden after his death. She had been a resident of Hass Hillcrest Care Center since Jan. 13, 1981.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran church in Hawarden.

Survivors include four sons, Marvin and his wife, Elverna, of Merrill, Norman and his wife, Neva, and Leonard and his wife, Eleanor, all of Ireton, and Robert of San Bernadino, Calif.; three daughters, Eileen and her husband, Henry Vander Helm of Hawarden, Lorraine and her husband, Don Luksan of Le Mars, and Evelyn Klemme and special friend, Glenn Gronemeyer of Akron; a sister, Rose Berg of Hass Hillcrest Care Center in Hawarden; a brother, Herman Berg of Cave Junction, Ore.; 24 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Ida Mae; a brother, Carl Berg; three 'sisters, Anna Toben, Minnie Tobolt and Emma Plueger; a son-in-law, Norman Klemme; and a great-granddaughter, Sheila Vande Hoef.
