Herman Milbrodt Dies at Hospital
Herman F. Milbrodt, Sr., 80, of Akron died at the Hawarden hospital Monday where he had been a patient a short time. The body was taken to the Schroeder Funeral home at Akron.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday at St. John’s Lutheran church in Preston township near Akron with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Conrad Guetzlaff, pastor of the church, will officiate.
Mr. Milbrodt was born March 17, 1885, in Germany and came to the United States as a small child with his parents. The entire remainder of his life was spent in Preston township, Plymouth county, where he farmed until his death.
He married Meta Frerichs on January 31, 1912, in Preston township. She died in 1937.
Survivors include nine sons, Henry, Clarence, Fred, and Herman, Jr., all of Akron. William of Sleepy Eye, Minn., George of Hinton, Iowa and Robert, Paul and Charles all of Sioux City; five daughters, Mrs. William Heubrock of Hawarden, Mrs. Rodney Lane of Vermillion, Mrs. John Miller of Rock Valley, Mrs. Leo Hanson and Mrs., James Small, both of Akron; a brother, Fred Milbrodt of Sioux City; 33 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
