Anna Wilhelmina Grosenheider was born Sept. 23, 1916, in rural Plymouth County, the daughter of Robert and Meta (Pageler) Grosenheider. She attended country school in Preston Township. Ann was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston Township, rural Akron.

Ann was united in marriage to Richard Jones April 25, 1946. They lived in Le Mars for a few years, during that time Ann worked at Vander Meer Bakery. In 1951, they moved to their farm in Plymouth County where they farmed until retiring in 1984. In 1985, they moved back to Le Mars. Richard died in 1992.

For the past five years, Ann has made her home at Plymouth Manor.

Ann was a lifelong member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Ladies Aide and W.E.L.C.A. women's circle. Her faith and her family were the center of her life.

She loved to cook and bake for her family. Her grandchildren especially enjoyed sharing tea and homemade oatmeal bread and sugar cookies for lunch. She would bake and send cookies to them while they were away at college. Neighborhood children came to know Ann as the "cookie lady," who never turned them away. She loved to read cookbooks and try new recipes. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory are a son, Robert R. "Bob" Jones and his wife, Diane of Le Mars; a daughter, Julie Beitelspacher and her husband, Wayne of rural Le Mars; two granddaughters, Brenda Ann Jones Wiarda of West Des Moines, and Kari Ann Kopperud and her husband, Judd of Le Mars; one grandson, Luke Beitelspacher and his wife, Ashley of Brunsville; four great-grandchildren, Claire Ann Wiarda, Cole Wiarda, Kortney Kopperud, and Brooks Beitelspacher; one sister, Vera Mammen and her husband Carl of Le Mars; a brother, Robert Grosenheider and his wife Violet of Le Mars; a sister-in-law, Bernice Grosenheider of Le Mars; and several nieces and nephews.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Meta (Pageler) Grosenheider; her husband, Richard; two sisters, Josie Popken and Elsie Oetken; and a brother, Fred Grosenheider.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston Township, rural Akron. The Rev. Sarah Nye and Diaconal Minister Joel Nye will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Tuesday with the family present after 5:30 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family wishes to express their gratitude to her caregivers at Plymouth Manor and to Hospice of Siouxland.
