CLARENCE J. TALBOTT
Clarence J. Talbott, 79, of Jefferson, S.D., died Thursday (Sept. 5, 1985) at a Hawarden nursing home following a long illness.
Funeral was at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Anderson Funeral Home in Elk Point. Rev. Lee Christopherson of Hawarden’s First Baptist Church officiated. Burial was in Big Spring Cemetery in rural Alcester. Visitation was from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday with the family present from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Mr. Talbott was born Jan. 31, 1906, in Merrill, and moved to Elk Point with his parents as a small child. He married Myrtle Caskey on Aug. 3, 1929. He was employed by Union County Highway Department until retiring in 1974. He then worked part-time for Elk Point Township. He married Ann Tupker on Oct. 18, 1968, in Elk Point and the couple moved to Jefferson in 1978. Mr. Talbott became a resident of Hillcrest Care Center in Hawarden six months ago.
He was a Methodist.
Survivors are his wife; a son, Gerald, of Elk Point; a daughter, Marilyn Trobaugh of Sergeant Bluffs; a brother, Clifford, of Abilene, Texas; three sisters, Dora Lawrence and Gladys Sullivan, both of Elk Point, and Pearl Powell, of Alcester; two stepdaughters, Connie Sullivan of Hawarden and Carole Harvey of Keystone; a stepson, Mike Tupker of Annandale, Minn.; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren and two step-greatgrandchildren.
