Wendell Petry Buried Last Saturday

Funeral services for Wendell G. Petry, 71, who died in the Hawarden hospital Wednesday, May 21, were held at the Trinity Lutheran Church last Saturday with Rev. O. F. Pittack officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill cemetery under the direction of Dow Funeral Home.

Mrs. William F. Hill organist and Leonard Blinde sang “Abide with Me” and “For Me to Live is Jesus.” Active casket bearers were Leland Kircher, Lester Janssen, Harvey Pederson, Don Reinking, Paul Venard, and Raymond Benson. Honorary casket bearers were Harold Larson, Glenn Rounds, Orville Conway, William Van Wyhe, Leland Blomberg, Sr., and Evert Hendricks.

Petry was born March 2, 1898, in Union county South Dakota. He married Alma Bultman December 17, 1941, in Hawarden. He farmed in Union county all of his life.

Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. John (Lorane) Prendergast of Hawarden; two sons, James and Thomas, both of Hawarden; one grandchild; a brother, Harry of Akron and four sisters, Mrs. Ann Ericson of Akron, Mrs. Kay Harris, Mrs. Eva Mills and Miss Margaret Petry, all of Sioux Falls.
