Bierman, Evelyn Margaret
85, loving mother and grandmother, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2009.

She is survived by her daughters, Gail Mortensen (Kent), Ellen Nieman (Jon) and Fay Wehofer (Chuck). She is also survived by her brother, Dean Harvey (Sharon) of Marcus, Iowa, and 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren who were the joy of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merlin Bierman, and her brother, Harold Bock of Belmond, Iowa.

Evelyn was born on January 24, 1924, to Carl and Minnie Bock, in Plymouth County, Iowa. She attended Western Union College in LeMars where she earned her teaching degree. She taught 5th and 6th grades at Grand Meadow School near Marcus. She married Merlin Bierman on June 21, 1946, in Pierson. They raised their family and farmed near Pierson and then Belmond, and moved to Tempe, Arizona in 1979.

Evelyn was a devoted member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Tempe, Arizona, where she had many friends. She enjoyed reading and being involved in service to her church and family and will be missed and cherished by all who were blessed by her service and friendship. Our hearts are full of gratitude that we were part of her wonderful life.

All services for Evelyn will be held at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 1337 W. 11th St. Tempe, AZ 85281. The services will include a visitation at the church on Wednesday, February 25, from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 26, at 10:00 a.m. followed by burial in the Green Acres Cemetery.
