Mrs. Barney Deitermann passed away at her home one mile northeast of Remsen at 10:45 p.m. on Sunday evening at the age of fifty-one years. Her death was due to pneumonia, complicating the rupture of a blood vessel into the brain, which occurred three weeks ago. Mary Kettman was born on October 17, 1861 in Hanover, Germany. Before coming to this county the family settled at Templeton, Iowa. The marriage of Mary Kettman to Barney Deitermann took place in Templeton on February 17, 1895, and the couple moved at once to a farm near Roselle, Iowa. Sixteen years ago they moved to their farm one mile from Remsen, where they reside until now. Mrs. Deitermann's death is mourned by seven children, Henry, of Remsen, and Catherine, John, Mary, Joseph, Elizabeth and Peter, who all live at home, also three stepchildren, Clara and Barney, of Bonesteel, South Dakota, and Mrs. J. G Sturm, of Wilmont, Minn. The funeral was held Wednesday morning at nine o'clock with services at St. Mary's church.
