Dorothy E. (Woodall) Meister, 88, of Kingsley, died Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009, at the Kingsley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Dorothy Eileen Meister, the daughter of Ida (Johnson) and Thomas J. Woodall, was born Dec. 30, 1920, on her family farm south of Fielding. She graduated from Grand Meadow Consolidated School, among the class of 1938.

On June 6, 1940, in the family home near Fielding, Dorothy was united in marriage to Roy Meister. They became the parents of two sons, Dave and Paul.

In 1949, Dorothy and Roy moved to Kingsley. Dorothy became the owner and operator of the "Flower Nook," which was added to the furniture store in 1967. Dorothy retired in 1978.

Dorothy was a member of the Kingsley Congregational Church of Christ, the Order of Eastern Star, and a 50-year member of the P.E.O. Chapter GS.

She loved music and in her earlier years, sang with her three sisters in a quartet. The "Woodall Sisters" sang with Pete's Dance Band of Remsen.

Dorothy is survived by her two sons and their wives, Dave and Judy Meister of Naples, Fla., and Paul and Jan Meister of Kingsley; one grandson, Tim and Angie Meister of Naples, Fla.; one granddaughter-in-law, Alicia Meister of Tulsa, Okla.; two granddaughters, Sandra Meister of DeKalb, Ill., and Jamie Meister of Brookings, S.D.; three great-grandsons, William, Dakota and Toby; one sister, Bonnie Irwin of Marcus; two sisters-in-law, Sylvia Beelner of Kingsley and Maxine Meister of Le Mars; one brother-in-law, Wes Hirschman of Cherokee; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Preceding Dorothy in death is her husband, Roy Meister in October 1991; her parents, Thomas and Ida Meister; one grandson, 1st Sgt. Tobias C. Meister; and two sisters, Louise Hirschman and Mary Rutter.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Kingsley Congregational United Church of Christ with the Rev. Robert Blair officiating. Interment will be in the Kingsley City Cemetery.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today (Monday) at the Johnson-Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. The visitation will resume at the church on Tuesday, one hour prior to Dorothy's service.
