Mike Hart, 60, of The Woodlands, Texas, formerly of Le Mars, died suddenly on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006 in Le Mars.
Michael John Hart was born Aug. 2, 1946, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars to John and LaVonne (Weiler) Hart. He was an active member of the Le Mars community, his school and his church while growing up. Mike's passion as a young man was football and he played on the high school and college levels. He graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1964. Four years later he earned a B.S. degree in marketing from Drake University.
Mike eventually settled in the Houston, Texas area where he spent the majority of his adult life. He worked in the commercial construction field in the Houston area until recently retiring. Mike loved to play golf and was looking forward to spending more time on the links with friends.
He was the third generation of Harts to be a member of the B. P.O. Elks.
Mike will be lovingly remembered by his mother, LaVonne Hart of Le Mars; his father John Hart and his wife Gwen of Le Mars; a sister, Debra Weber and her husband Arden of Bayfield, Wis.; a nephew, Joshua Johnston of Lodi, Wis.; a niece, Emily Hart of Los Angeles, Calif.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents John and Rose Weiler and paternal grandparents John and Claudine Hart.
A Memorial Service will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home of Le Mars. The Rev. Jim Tigges of St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars will officiate. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the family present from 12:30 p.m. until service time.
