Dallas D. Streufert of Le Mars, died unexpectedly Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars at the age of 70.

Dallas Dale Streufert was born Oct. 6, 1936, at Argusville, N.D., the son of Ernest and Anna (Schuett) Streufert. His family moved to Sutherland, Iowa when he was a young boy. He grew up at Sutherland and graduated from Sutherland High School. Dallas served his country with the U.S. Army from December 1955 to December 1958.

Dallas Streufert and Judy Perkins were united in marriage on Dec. 27, 1962, at Sioux Rapids. The couple moved to Le Mars soon after their marriage and Dallas was employed with N.I.P.C.O. Dallas retired as their senior control operator after serving more than 30 years with the company. His wife Judy died in July 1994.

Dallas was a member of the Eagles Club in Le Mars. While his wife Judy was living, they enjoyed spending their weekends at their lake home with their family on Lake Shetek near Slayton, Minn.

In more recent years he thoroughly enjoyed gardening and spending time with his neighbor Gary Borchers. Dallas was a good cook and he enjoyed his cooking shows on television. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR. Dallas always loved children but his special girls were his granddaughters.

Survivors include a daughter, Julia Wilken and her fiancé Kevin Ott of Le Mars; a son, David Streufert and his wife Amy of Davenport; two granddaughters, Jessica and Allison Wilken of Le Mars; his twin brother Derald Streufert and his wife Ruth Ann of Emmetsburg; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: John and Pat Perkins of Dakota Dunes, S.D., Gene and Elaine Perkins of Britt, and Russ Perkins and his wife La Nee of Orange City; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Judy in July 1994; a sister Mary Wetherell; a brother in infancy; and a son-in-law Scott Wilken.

Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Sunday at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars, where there will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the Funeral Service on Monday at the funeral home.
