FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Wendell Paul Parry, 85, of Fountain Valley, Calif., was called to be with the Lord on Friday July 17, 2009, surrounded by his loving family.

Wendell Paul Parry the son of James Paul and Rosa (Treptow) Parry was born March 3, 1924, in Le Mars.

Wendell was a native of Kingsley. He was a Corporal in the Marines during World War II. After the service he met his future bride DeLores Ann Kovarna, ballroom dancing in Sioux City, Iowa. They married in 1948 and celebrated their 61st anniversary June 21, 2009.

After selling their farm in Westfield they traveled west to start their new life in Fountain Valley, Calif., in 1966 and raised their five children. Wendell was self-employed and a small business owner.

He was happiest spending time with his family, gardening and sharing his fruits and vegetables with family, friends and neighbors.

He is survived by his lovely wife DeLores Ann (Kovarna) of 61 years, and five children; Cathleen and son-in-law Edward Masterson, LaDonna and son-in-law Gary Fulton, Judy Murphy, DeAnn and Steve Schetne, Alan and daughter in-law Mary. His family also includes 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

All are welcome to attend the celebration of his life. The service will be held at noon Thursday, July 23, at Mission Hills Church, 24162 Alicia Parkway, Mission Viejo, Calif. 92691, (949) 586-4510. Internment will be at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside Calif., July 24, 2009.
