BERT GROVES

Albert (Bert) Groves, 72, died Tuesday evening, Oct. 20, at his home at 24 3rd Ave. S.E. after one day’s sickness.

He was born May 5, 1881, in Ontario, Canada, and came to LeMars at the age of 16. He was employed by the Moore Lumber Co.

His marriage to Jennie Smid took place April 28, 1906, in LeMars. His wife survives as do three sons, Gerald of Fremont, Neb., Roman of Oakland, Calif., and Fred of Van Nuys, Calif.; and a daughter, Mrs. Ed (Shirley) Sullivan of LeMars.

Also surviving are eight grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Vance Oathout of Minneapolis. He was preceded in death by a son, Leslie, and daughter, Emily.

Funeral services were held Thursday at the Wiltgen-Luedtke funeral home at 2 p.m. Rev. Frank Patterson officiated. Burial was in the city cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Bill Sullivan, Harold Dugan, Minert B___, Frank Hentges, Wilbur Jones and Wayne Cameron.
