MOVILLE, Iowa -- Cecile "Angie" Rounds, 86, of Moville died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at a Sioux City hospital following a prolonged illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Moville, with the Rev. Roger J. Augustine officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today, with a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. followed by a rosary, all at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith McCulloch Chapel in Moville.

Cecile was born March 13, 1916, in Arlington Township, Iowa, the daughter of Iliff Earl and Edna Mae (Sanderson) Guthridge. As a young girl, she moved with her parents and siblings to Moville, where she happily lived her life and was proud to call Moville home. She graduated from Moville High School in 1933 and went on to continue her education at Iowa State University in nutrition science.

She married Raymond Lee Rounds on June 17, 1940, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kingsley, Iowa. To this union six children were born. Raymond entered into eternal rest Oct. 25, 1970.

In addition to rearing her family, Angie worked as a cook at various cafes and, in 1962, started at Woodbury Central School in the hot lunch program. She eventually became manager and worked there until 1974, when she was employed by the Department of Social Services as a homemaker health aide. In 1979 the homemaker group was transferred to the Family Service Boys and Girls Home, where she continued until her retirement.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Moville, Catholic Daughters and the church altar guild. She was chairperson of the Moville Centennial Book Committee, a member of Movillle PTA, Barry Patch Dancers, Moville Senior Citizens Center, a longtime volunteer at Goodwill Industries and a member of Meadows Golf Club. She loved dancing, playing bridge and laughing. She was a wonderful hostess who enjoyed life in all circumstances. Angie was a dearly loved wife, mother and grandmother of 20 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. She died following a prolonged illness with the family she loved at her side.

Survivors include two sons, David Lee and his wife, Georgia Rounds of Sergeant Bluff, and Robert Joseph Rounds of Moville; three daughters, Cecile Anzlyne "Anne" and her husband, John O'Mara of Lyons, Neb., Madelon Sue Rounds and her special friend, Bob Pierson of Ottumwa, Iowa, and Fauneil Ruth Rounds-Allen and her special friend, Lindsay Cooper of St. Charles, Ill.; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; a brother, Raymond and his wife, Margie Guthridge of Moville; a sister, Earline Hunting of Moville; and a son-in-law, Roy Shackelford of Omaha, Neb.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Rita Mary Shackelford; a sister, Ruth Peterson; and a brother-in-law, Harmon Hunting.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Molyneaux, David Molyneaux, Daniel O'Mara, Jason O'Mara, Liam O'Mara, Christopher Shackelford and Todd Shackelford.

Memorials will be used to benefit Angie's beloved community of Moville.
