JASPER L. DAY
MOVILLE, Iowa—Jasper Lyle Day, 68, of Moville, died Sunday in a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in the First Baptist Church in LeMars. The Rev. Gordon Rhodes will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in LeMars with military graveside rites conducted by Wasmer Post 241, American Legion. Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home of LeMars is in charge.
Mr. Day was born Aug. 18, 1917, in Sutherland. He graduated from LeMars High School in 1936 and Sioux City Barber College. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. A barber for 47 years, he worked in LeMars, Merrill, Sioux City and the last 16 years in Moville. He married Edith Culver Davis Nov. 10, 1938, in LeMars. She died June 15, 1974.
Mr. Day was a member of the First Baptist Church and member and Past Commander of Wasmer Post 241, American Legion.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Lyla) Farmer of Craig and Mrs. Jack (Ann) Parker of Holland, Mich.; a brother, Lowell of LeMars; and five grandchildren.
