MARCUS, Iowa -- Thelma E. Reinholdt, 68, of Marcus died unexpectedly Tuesday, July 27, 2004, in the emergency room at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Grace Methodist Church in Marcus, with the Rev. Gary McDonough officiating. Burial will be in Marcus-Amherst Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Earnest-Rohde Funeral Home in Marcus. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.

Thelma Elaine Reinholdt was born Jan. 5, 1936, on the family farm in Plymouth County, Iowa, to Francis O. and Mildred Marlys (Neir) Briggs. She attended country school through the third grade. She continued her education in Marcus and graduated from Marcus High School in 1954. She worked in Sioux City for Genelli Studios.

On Aug. 16, 1958, she and Elmer Reinholdt were united in marriage at Grace Methodist Church in Marcus. The couple farmed 15 miles south of Marcus until they retired in December 1978, and moved to their present home in Marcus.

She was a lifelong member of Grace Methodist Church and was active in United Methodist Women and circle. She also was a member of the Heartland Auxiliary and the Marcus Tourist Club. She enjoyed flower gardening, playing cards, traveling, reading and crafts. Most of all, she enjoyed time spent with her family. She liked to swim with her granddaughters and keep in touch with relatives using e-mail.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Elmer of Marcus; a daughter and her husband, Diane and Gary Allen of Storm Lake, Iowa; two sons and their wives, Roger and Brenda of Peculiar, Mo., and Brian and Jina of Olathe, Kan.; four grandchildren, Erica Allen, Angela, Paige and Michelle Reinholdt; four stepgrandchildren, Kyle and Kelli Allen, Jamie Walsh and Allen Carpenter; four great-stepgrandchildren, Christian, Ethan, Jackson and Luke; and her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary Jo Briggs of Marcus, Lawrence Ruby of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Harry and Esther Reinholdt of Remsen, Iowa, Florence Heimgartner of Le Mars, Iowa, Mae Reinholdt of Le Mars, Walter and Violet Reinholdt of Lawton, Iowa, and Dorothy Rumohr of Rogers, Ark.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Shirley Ruby; and two brothers, Francis Jr. and Donald Briggs.
