REMSEN, Iowa -- Armella Reistroffer, 88, of Remsen died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen, with the Rev. Timothy Johnson officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Friday, with a parish rosary at 3 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., all at Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.
Mrs. Reistroffer was born April 21, 1914, in rural Remsen, the daughter of Nick and Mary (Ruba) Weiler. She was raised and educated in the Remsen area.
She married Lawrence Reistroffer on Feb. 6, 1936, in Remsen. They farmed near Cherokee, Iowa, for three years, then in the Oyens and Le Mars, Iowa, area. In 1952, they moved to a farm near Remsen. In 1972, they moved into Remsen. From 1961 to 1984, she was a waitress at several restaurants in Remsen. She had been a resident of Happy Siesta Health Care Center since April 3, 1997. Lawrence died Jan. 14, 2001.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Survivors include a son, Wally of Arvada, Colo.; a daughter and her husband, Sharon and Allan Schumacher of Omaha; seven grandchildren, Angela and her husband, Jeff Lindquist, of Denver, Colo., Nichole and her husband, Stephen Madden, of Golden, Colo., Amy Reistroffer of Arvada, Colo., Neil Schumacher of Boston, Mass., Anne Schumacher of Chicago, Ill., and Ruth and Tina Schumacher, both of Omaha; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Dennis; two brothers, Roland Weiler as a child and Raymond Weiler in infancy; and two sisters and their husbands, Rita and Charles Geiger and Elizabeth and Harlan Nordman.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Britt, Gary Galles, Phillip and Steve Pick and John and Richard Weber.
