BATTLE CREEK, Iowa -- Raymond Joseph Reistroffer, 87, of Battle Creek died Friday, May 17, 2002, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove, Iowa.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ida Grove, with Rev. David Hemann officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Graceland Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., with the family present, and a Scripture service at 8 p.m., at the Christensen-Huffman Funeral Home in Ida Grove.

Mr. Reistroffer was born March 22, 1915, in Remsen, Iowa, the son of Nicholas and Katherine (Kemp) Reistroffer. He grew up in the Le Mars and Owens area. He married Lucille M. Ryan on November 24, 1941, in Sioux City. The couple farmed southeast of Le Mars, east of Merrill, and north of Battle Creek for many years. Mrs Reistroffer died in 1995.

Mr. Reistroffer was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ida Grove. He enjoyed tinkering and gardening, and will be missed by his family.

Survivors include six children and their spouses, Anthony and Marilyn Reistroffer of Phoenix, Ariz., Michael and Mary Reistroffer of Maple Grove, Minn., Robert and Lois Reistroffer of Elkhorn, Neb., Tom and JoAnn Reistroffer of Arlington, Minn., Jerry and Rita Reistroffer of Sioux City, and Rosemary and H. R. Steyerman of Seattle, Wash.; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald Reistroffer of Le Mars; three sisters, Matilda Thola of Dubuque, Iowa, Roselind Rolling of Le Mars, and Florentine Weber of Marcus, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lucille; a son, David Reistroffer; a grandson, Todd Reistroffer; a brother, Lawrence Reistroffer; and three sisters, Luella Reistroffer, Dolores Schaffer, and Loretta Ott.
