KINGSLEY, Iowa -- Leona A. Reinking, 88, of Kingsley passed away Saturday, July 2, 2005, at Kingsley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Salem Lutheran Church in rural Correctionville, Iowa, with the Rev. Burt Burwell officiating. Burial will be in Kingsley Cemetery. Visitation will begin 4 p.m. today, with the family present at 4 p.m. and a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., at Rohde-Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley. Visitation will resume 1 p.m. to time of service Tuesday at the church.

Leona Anna Reinking was born Nov. 13, 1916, on a family farm in Kedron Township, Woodbury County, Iowa. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith at Denison, Iowa, and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church, rural Correctionville. She attended country school near her home before graduating from Correctionville High School in 1934. She later attended Western Union (Westmar) College in Le Mars, Iowa, where she earned her teaching certificate. Leona returned to her home area and taught school in Kedron Township.

On March 25, 1939, Leona and Earl Otto Reinking were united in marriage at Salem Lutheran Church. The couple made their home on the Reinking family farm near Correctionville. Leona was a homemaker and assisted Earl with farming. Earl passed away on May 26, 1976. Leona remained on the farm and worked at Graham's Variety Store in Kingsley before moving to the Kingsley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Oct. 3, 2001.

She was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church. Leona played many roles at the church including church council member, circle activities and quilting, teaching Sunday school, Bible school and confirmation. In her children's younger years, she volunteered her time with school activities like band mothers. She was also involved with the American Cancer Society fund drive for over 20 years. She loved crossword puzzles, crocheting and knitting. All the children and grandchildren have an afghan crocheted by Leona.

She will be lovingly remembered by a son, Roger and his wife, Joan of rural Correctionville; two daughters, Ruth White of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Peggy Wielenberg and her husband, Emmanuel Ajagu of University Heights, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Krista Vanderpool, Brad White and his wife, Laura, Dawn Stane and her husband, Darren, Erik Wielenberg and his wife, Margaret, Mark Reinking, Aaron Wielenberg and his wife, Wendy and Dean Reinking and his wife, Jessica; eight great-grandchildren, Alicia, Brett, Ashley, Devin, Danielle, Dana, Amelia and Jake; a twin sister, Leora Reinking of Kingsley; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Petersen of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl; a sister, Hilda Bunnell; six brothers, Louis, Walter, Arnold, Carl, John and Herbert; and two sons-in-law, Larry White and Norbert Wielenberg.
