LE MARS, Iowa -- Arvil C. Rozell, 89, of Le Mars died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Le Mars, with the Rev. Gary Landsness officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present after 5 p.m. and a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars.
Arvil Clarence Rozell was born Nov. 19, 1913, on the family farm near Akron, Iowa, to Arthur and Mamie (Tucker) Rozell. Arvil grew up near Akron. He was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist faith.
In the mid-1930s, Arvil was united in marriage to Mildred Oetken. The couple farmed near Big Springs, S.D., then later near Hawarden, Iowa, until 1962. Arvil and Mildred moved to Le Mars when he began to work for Sioux Tools. Arvil had also worked for Vander Meer Bakery for several years. He later went to work for Floyd Valley Hospital until his retirement in the late 1970s.
Arvil was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars. He was later married to Charolette Pry in the mid-1990s. Charolette passed away in January 2000. Arvil enjoyed dancing, visiting with friends and neighbors and helping his family throughout the years.
Survivors include four sons, La Verle Rozell and his friend, Gerry Day of Hawarden, Randy and his wife, Jean Rozell of Bagley, Iowa, Dallas and his wife, Kay Rozell of Jefferson, Iowa, and Myron Rozell of Mapleton, Iowa; two stepdaughters, Reba and her husband, Robert Moon of Oyens, Iowa, and Pam and her husband, Gary White of Council Bluffs, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Alva and Marjorie Rozell of Le Mars; two sisters, Mona Smith of Akron, and Merva Hartman of Hawarden; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mildred on Feb. 1, 1990; his second wife, Charolette in 1999; four brothers, Archie, Arden, Arlo and Arthur Rozell; and five sisters, Mabel Willer, Mae Neunaber, Muriel Krueger, Marie Smith and Mary Moss.
Pallbearers will be Tim Rozell, Kent Rozell, Jason Rozell, Dan Van Beek, Steve Paulson and Mike Roling.
Honorary pallbearers will be Michelle Rozell, Cindy Landsteiner, Mark Rozell, Candice Sonnek, Lana Keenan, Rachel Rozell, Kelly Trout and Kimberlie Rozell.
