LE MARS, Iowa -- Stanley D. Post, 97, of Le Mars passed away Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars, with the Rev. James Tigges of St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.

Stanley D. Post was born Sept. 30, 1905, in Le Mars, the son of Frank A. and Eva M. (Moore) Post. He graduated from Le Mars High School in 1923. He continued his education at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He received a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering. Following graduation, he worked for AT&T in New York and Chicago.

While living in New York, he met Grace A. Post. The couple married on Jan. 11, 1937, in Washington, D.C. The couple moved to Le Mars in 1939. He joined his father with the operation of Spots and Post Drug Store and Moore Lumber Company. He took over sole operation of Moore Lumber Co. in 1958, until selling the business in 1978. He continued selling and repairing Toro lawn mowers and snow blowers for several years to follow. Mrs. Post passed away on Thursday, Nov. 9, 1989. He continued to reside at home until moving to Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in January.

He was a longtime member of the Rotary Club, a past park board commissioner, a past Chamber of Commerce president and director of the country club.

He will be lovingly remembered by his two daughters, Margaret Post of Coralville, Iowa, and Martha and her husband, Vernon Good of Denver, Colo.; and two grandsons, Matthew Good and Brian Good and his fiancee, Cassie Babel, all of Denver.

In addition to his wife, Grace, he was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Foster and Albert.
