HENRY J. SEYMOUR
TAKEN BY DEATH

Last rites for Henry J. Seymour, 81 years of age, who passed away Thursday evening, May 15, in the Methodist hospital at Sioux City were conducted at the Evangelical United Brethren church in Moville, Iowa, last Sunday afternoon at 2:30 with Rev. Robert R. MacCanon of Moville, officiating and assisted by Rev. Ward Campbell, pastor of the Free Methodist church at LeMars, and Rev. R.T. Smith of Scranton, Iowa. Music was in charge of Lester and Arthur Harrison, accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Almira Holming, all of Hornick, Iowa. Pallbearers were Mr. Seymour’s four sons and two nephews. Burial was in the Climbing Hill cemetery.

Mr. Seymour was born at Lyons, Clinton County, Iowa, December 21, 1865. He had one brother and four sisters. In his early youth he went to Crawford county, Iowa, where he was employed several years. On July 27, 1897, he was united in marriage with Matilda Schroeder of Schleswig, Iowa. They engaged in farming all their lives, in Monona County until 1915, when they moved to the vicinity of Moville. In their declining years they lived in Lincoln township east of Hinton. He was preceded in death by his wife, who passed away December 14, 1941, and by his brother and sisters.

Mr. Seymour, according to his own statement, became a Christian on December 25, 1891, and after that experience he was an ardent student of the Holy Bible. He was an active worker in varied church and Sunday school activities. In 1921, Mr. Seymour organized the Sunnyside Sunday school in a country school house near his home, and he superintended that school until 1941. He was a faithful attendant and contributor.
