LE MARS, Iowa -- Patricia Kanago, 79, of Le Mars passed away Monday, Dec. 27, 2004, at Happy Siesta Nursing Home in Remsen, Iowa.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars, with the Rev. G. Dean Goebel of Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Le Mars officiating. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Patricia M. Kanago was born Sept. 11, 1925, in Le Mars, the daughter of Anna H. (Kruse) and Melvin R. Kanago. She attended grade school in Le Mars and graduated from Le Mars Central High School in 1943. She then attended Westmar College in Le Mars and Drake University of Des Moines.

Following her education, she returned to Le Mars and began her career in banking at the First National Bank. She worked there for several years prior to joining the staff at First Federal Savings and Loan in Sioux City. She retired in September 1990, having served as their personnel officer. In 1999, she moved to the Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars. She would later move to Happy Siesta Nursing Home in Remsen in 2001.

She was a member of Presbyterian United Church of Christ and the Le Mars Lions Club, where she held various offices.

She will be lovingly remembered by her brother and his wife, Dennis R. and Alma Kanago of Le Mars; a nieces and her husband, Sue and David Baker of Rockville, Ind.; and two cousins and their spouses, Jim and Pat Kanago of Omaha and Lorrie and Charles Rome of Parkville, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and an uncle, P.L. Kanago.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jack McDougal and the Le Mars Lions Club.
