Waldemar W. "Wally" Krause, 80, of Akron, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at his residence.

Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Big Springs Baptist Church, rural Alcester, S.D. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Alfred E. Hoschler Post 186 of Akron. Burial will be at a later date.

Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Friday with the family present after 5:30 p.m and a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the church. The Carlsen Funeral Home-Schroeder Chapel in Akron.

Wally Krause, 80, of Akron passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at his residence.

Celebration of Life was held Saturday, January 15 at Big Springs Baptist Church, rural Alcester with Rev. Daryl Runion officiating. Military rites were conducted by the Alfred E. Hoschler American Legion Post 186 of Akron. Burial will be at a later date.

Pallbearers were his grandsons.

Waldemar William "Wally" Krause was born July 3,1924 in Ponca, NE, the son of William and Emilie (Pansegrau) Krause. He attended school in Waterbury and graduated from Waterbury High School. In 1942, he enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served his country during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1945. He attended the University of Nebraska and later Utah State University where he graduated with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering in 1953. He then began his career with the Boeing Company in Federal Way, WA.

He was united in marriage to Valene "Val" Rogers on January 26,1951 in Odgen, UT.

He continued to work for Boeing and for a short time for General Electric, where he was involved with the construction of the Alaskan Pipe Line. He returned to Boeing and retired from there after 37 years. Following retirement, the couple moved to Akron in 1996.

He was an active member of the Big Springs Baptist Church and the Alfred E. Hoschler American Legion Post 186 of Akron. He was a former member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Washington for over 45 years.

He was always known for his strong integrity, honesty and his sense of humor. He was very knowledgeable and he loved to gather information and history. He was very dedicated and faithful to his Lord. He loved woodworking and tutoring the children of the Akron-Westfield School. He loved his wife, children and grandkids and supported them in everything they did.

Survivors include his wife of over 53 years, Val of Akron; four children, Michael W. Krause and his wife, Alice of Seattle, WA, Cindy Appley and her husband, Dan of Akron, Lori Summers and her husband, Jon of Kent, WA, and Wendy Krause of Kent, WA; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Dr. Arnold Krause and his wife, Karin of Fort Worth, TX and Hank Krause and his wife, Marlene of Akron; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Smith of Akron and Dr. Loretta Krause of Honolulu, HI; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ervin and Gerald Krause and a sister in infancy, Althia Krause.
