OCCUPATION: He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945. The couple farmed in Union County from 1950 until retiring in 1989. They then moved to South Sioux City.
MEMBER OF: He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and various church boards. He served on Spring Creek and Pleasant Ridge School boards and served as Union County Commisioner for 10 years. He enjoyed square dancing and taught square dancing to beginners.
SURVIVORS: …include his wife; a daughter and her husband, Nancy and Don Ludwig of Windsor, Colo.; two sons and their wives, Jim and Pat of Bellevue, Wash., and Swen and Dianna of Apple Valley, Minn.; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Leora and her husband, Calvin Chicoine of Jefferson, S.D., and Mary Ellen Fett of Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews.
