Maidie R. Witt, 88, of Le mars died Tuesday, March 19, 1996, at the Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars.
Services were held Friday, March 22 at St. John's LutheranChurch ELCA in Le Mars with the Rev. Gary Landsness officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery at Akron. Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home, Le Mars was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Witt was born Dec. 16, 1907, on the family farm near Akron, the daughter of Folkert and Meta (Peters) Schmidt. She was raised near Akron and attended countr school. She married Alfred Witt Sept. 7, 1927, at the Trinity Lutheran Church parsonage. The couple farmed in the Akron area until his death Feb. 24, 1940. She and her daughters moved to Le Mars in 1942. She worked for Sheehan Produce for 17 years and later in the Westmar Commons Cafeteria for 14 years. She retired in 1980. She had been a resident of Brentwood Good Samaritan Center since June 1985. Mrs. Witt was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Dorothy and John Luschen of Le Mars and Marlys and Albert Tiesler of Hinton; four grandchildren, Kenneth and Scott Tiesler, Keith Luschen and Renae Buss; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Millie Rehborg of Fort Collins, Colo., and a sister-in-law, LeOra Schmidt of Apple Valley, Calif.
She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Annie and Freda Klemme and Tillie Kluver, and three brothers, John, Fred, and Mervin Schmidt.
