KINGSLEY, Iowa -- Ernest "Ernie" Schweitzberger, 95, of Kingsley died Sunday, April 17, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church in Kingsley, with the Rev. Paul Evans officiating. Burial will be in Kingsley Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Rohde-Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley.

Ernie was born Feb. 10, 1910, in Kingsley, the son of William and Sarah (Rice) Schweitzberger. He attended country school and worked with his father in farming and trucking.

He married Thelma McConnell on Jan. 18, 1933. After their marriage, the couple lived and farmed in the Pierson, Kingsley and Hinton, Iowa, areas, before retiring to Kingsley in 1976. After his retirement, he worked for Anderson Implement of Kingsley, doing custom hay baling and shop work for George and Vernon Anderson.

He was a member of United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma Schweitzberger of Kingsley; two daughters, Junille and her husband, Larry Knaack of Correctionville, Iowa, and Joyce Kohn of Cherokee, Iowa; nine grandchildren and spouses, Robert Knaack of Correctionville, Terry and Jackie Knaack of Littleton, Colo., Joel Kohn and Jason and Sara Kohn, all of Cherokee, Jeff and Angie Kohn of Winfield, Minn., Aaron and Aimee Kohn of Pipestone, Minn., Sherry and Junior Miller, John Kohn and Gena and Nathan Reusch, all of Cherokee; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Walter, Harold and Francis; and a sister, Pearl Nagel.
