OCCUPATION: He sold insurance for State Farm in LeMars. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1944 to 1946. Following his discharge, he returned to LeMars and worked as a carpenter. He worked in sales for Fuller Brush and Wells Dairy, and for Sacred Heart Hospital in LeMars from 1957 until retiring in 1977. During his retirement, he did carpentry work, assisted with the ambulance and did work around Luken-Johnson Funeral Home. The couple had wintered near Mesa, Ariz. for 18 years.

SURVIVORS: …include his wife; a son and his wife, Keith and Deb of LeMars; four daughters and their husbands, Illa Jean and Gerald Sawyer of Estherville, Iowa, Sharon Kay and Michael Manion of Brainerd, Minn., Diane and Larry Dreckman of LeMars, and Mary Jo and Bryan Larsen, of LeMars; a stepdaughter and her husband, Roma and John Boyd of LeMars; a stepson and his wife Larry and Barb Siege of Maurice, Iowa; three sisters, Elvira Singer and Lorraine Mohan, both of Monrovia, Calif.; and Kathryne Welter of Lincoln; 14 grandchildren; 11 step grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and 12 step great grandchildren.
PRECEDED in DEATH by: …a brother, Robert; a sister, Evelyn Singer; a great grandson; and a stepson, Leo Siege.
