Clifford W. Ferrin, 81, formerly of Marcus and Le Mars, died Tuesday morning, Feb. 24, 2009, at the Heritage Pointe Assisted Living in Omaha, Neb., following a lengthy illness.
Clifford was born June 26, 1927, in Willow Township, Cherokee County, Iowa the son of Horace and Mary (Hanson) Ferrin. He graduated from Grand Meadow High School in 1946. He married Margaret Furgason April 17, 1948, in Cherokee.
He had farmed all his life, retiring in 2004. Cliff had resided in Omaha the past four months, in Le Mars for four years, and on a farm south of Marcus for 61 years. He was a charter member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Marcus.
He enjoyed collecting toy tractors, woodworking, leather craft, and attending old time dances, especially polkas with his wife Margaret and all four of his daughters and their friends.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret and five children: Linda (Jim) Lair of Omaha, Neb., Louise "Luci" Ferrin of Sibley, Joelene (Tom) Ewers of Hudson, Fla., Marilyn (Steve) Kofmehl of Adel, and Charles (Deborah) Ferrin of Omaha, Neb.; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and two brothers: Harold (Judy) Ferrin of Cherokee, and Wilbur (Linda) Ferrin of Reed Springs, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee. The Rev. Liz Pfeifle will officiate and burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee. Visitation will be Friday from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee.
