MRS. R. S. ATWOOD
Mrs. Rose S. Atwood, 73, lifelong resident of the LeMars community, died unexpectedly Saturday evening at the Sacred Heart hospital after suffering a heart attack Saturday morning at the Greenhouse where she had gone to work.
Mrs. Atwood operated a greenhouse and florist shop with her husband until his retirement in 1953, and was associated with her son, Raymond, in the business at the time of her death. She had been in the flower business for over 50 years.
Rose Bauerly was born April 19, 1885, near LeMars. She was married to Raymond R. Atwood, September 14, 1907, at Omaha. Mr. Atwood died August 26, 1955, at LeMars.
Survivors include the son, Raymond; a daughter, Mrs. Vida Brouilette of LeMars; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Spaid?, of LeMars; a brother, George Bauerly of LeMars; and three grandchildren, who are, Richard Brouilette, LeMars; Mrs. Romanda Athens, LeMars; and Miss Rosalie Brouilette, Sioux City.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday at the Mauer funeral home, LeMars. Rev. M.L. Straube officiated. Burial was in the LeMars cemetery.
Mr. Atwood died in 1955.
