Edith C. Bauerly, 92, of Sioux City died Sunday, Oct. 19, 1997, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Lawrence L. McCarty officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery at Ellendale, Iowa. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today, with a parish vigil service at 7:30 p.m., at the Larkin Northside Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bauerly was born Dec. 23, 1904, in Merrill, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Buryanek) Mattas.

She married Leslie J. Bauerly on Nov. 2, 1923, in Ellendale, Iowa. The couple moved to the Leeds area of Sioux City in 1946. He died March 1, 1965, in Sioux City.

She was employed as a cashier for Browns Cafe and the Highway 75 Cafe. She was also employed as a checker for Siedschlag Groceries, retiring in 1972.

She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and the church Altar Society.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Lawrence and Delores of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Darlene and Ronald Dibble of Sioux City; a sister, Verna Johnson of Brunsville, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Donald and Duane; two daughters, Mary Thorp and Dolores Muldowney; 10 brothers, George, Frank, William, Wesley, Francis, Harry, Leslie, Lawrence, Joseph and her twin Edward Mattas; and two sisters, Caroline Marienau and Lorraine Mattas.

Pallbearers will be Danny Bauerly, Roger and Bob Dibble, Jeff Eichmann, Craig Werner and Greg Franken.
