LILLIAN BOGEN HAMER
Word has been received here of the death of a former LeMars woman, Lillian Bogen Hamer, 68, who died Tuesday, March 24, at Centinella hospital, Inglewood, Calif., following a heart attack suffered a week ago.
The body will be shipped to LeMars for burial escorted by Miss Nina Lee, who had been with Mrs. Hamer in California. Funeral services will be held Monday at Mauer funeral home at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in LeMars City Cemetery.
Lillian Bogen was born Aug. 5, 1885, at Wireton, Ontario, Canada. She was four years old when her parents, John and Florence Bogen, emigrated to the United States and settled in LeMars.
After her marriage to Dewey Hamer in LeMars, the couple moved to Onawa. Following his death about 12 years ago, she moved to California where she has lived since.
Mrs. Hamer was a lifelong member of the Methodist church, and was organist here. She was also a member of the LeMars chapter of Eastern Star.
Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, and two brothers, Harry of LeMars, who died last year, and Allen, a prominent Chicago organist whose funeral services she attended in LeMars Feb. 16, this year. At the time her brother Allen died, Mrs. Hamer flew from California to Chicago to accompany the body to LeMars for burial.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Carl Challin of Sheldon; two brothers, Art of Oklahoma City, and Walter, of LeMars; and a step-son, Jack Hamer, of Chicago.
