Lorelei I. Youtzy, 55, of Hinton, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.

Lorelei was born April 2, 1955, in Chamberlain, S.D., the daughter of Otto and Esthella (Bode) Swanson. She grew up in Pukwana, S.D., and graduated from Chamberlain High School. Lorelei then attended and graduated from South Dakota State University. She was a medical technician and later became a lay chaplain for Market Place ministries, serving at Bickford Cottages, which she loved dearly.

Lorelei married Harold Youtzy Jr. May 29, 1982, in Sioux Falls, S.D.

She enjoyed scrapbooking, and had a love for music in playing the piano and singing. Lorelei also loved being a homemaker and mother to her six children and wife to Harold.

Lorelei was a member of the Grace Evangelical Church in Hinton.

Lorelei is survived by her husband, Harold of Hinton; six children, Daniel and wife Heather Youtzy of Sioux Falls, S.D., Jonathan, Rebekeh, Timothy, Stephen and Nathan Youtzy, all of Hinton; one brother, Jerald Swanson of Pukwana, S.D.; two sisters, Jan Boe and husband Richard of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Marcia Heupel and husband Al of Madison, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother and sister-in-law, Morris and his wife Sharon Swanson.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m today (Monday) at Central Baptist Church in Sioux City with the Rev. David Steinbron and the Rev. Clyde Pritchett officiating. Private graveside services will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery Tuesday.

Visitation was Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City.
