Florence M. Bauler, 91, of Kingsley, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008, at the Kingsley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where she had resided since May 2006.

Florence Marie Bauler, the daughter of Joseph T. and Anna (Fiegen) Galles, was born on June 10, 1917, in Plymouth County. She attended primary school at St. Mary's Catholic School in Remsen and graduated from the Union Consolidated High School.

On Sept. 27, 1938, Florence was united in marriage to Francis G. Bauler at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen. Together, they took great pride in their farming operation and became the loving and busy parents of seven children.

Florence was a devoted member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kingsley, Catholic Daughters, the Ladies Guild at St. Michael's and in her earlier years, she was a volunteer at the Kingsley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Some of Florence's other interests included solving crossword puzzles, quilting, playing cards and pool, gardening, traveling, cooking and baking. Her children claim that Florence made the best-ever doughnuts, buns and chocolate chip pie!

She treasured the occasions of hosting her children and grandchildren in her home, especially during the holidays.

In 1975, Florence and Francis retired from farming and moved into a home in Kingsley.

Florence will be dearly missed by all who have shared in her life.

She is survived by her seven children, Terry Bauler and his wife, Lois, of Spring Hill, Fla., Jim Bauler of Remsen, Nancy Willis and her husband, Craig, of Iowa City, Judy Bauler of Guthrie Center, Bonnie Klohs and her husband, Kirk, of Le Mars, Jeff Bauler and his wife, Linda, of Iowa City, and Shelly Bauler of Guthrie Center. She will also be fondly cherished by her 10 grandchildren, her five great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.

Preceding Florence in death were her husband, Francis G. Bauler, in May 2006, her parents, Joseph and Anna Galles; two sisters and five brothers.

Mass of Christian burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kingsley, with the Rev. Mark J. Stoll officiating. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery, Kingsley.
