Mildred (Beeck) Schmidt

LE MARS, Iowa -- Mildred (Beeck) Schmidt, 89, of Le Mars passed away on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars, with the Rev. Tim Olsen officiating. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Maplewood Cemetery, Luverne, Minn. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.

Mildred Helen Gertrude Eggebrecht was born Aug. 30, 1912, on a farm near Craig, Iowa, the daughter of Herman and Minnie (Ladwig) Eggebrecht. She attended school in Craig.

On July 10, 1941, Mildred married William Beeck in South Sioux City. They lived in various places throughout Iowa and Minnesota before settling in Reading, Minn. Mr. Beeck passed away on Nov. 21, 1965.

In October 1987, Mildred married Harold Schmidt at Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Le Mars. They moved to Glennie, Mich., and lived there until Mr. Schmidt passed away in March 1994. Mildred returned to Le Mars.

Mildred will be lovingly remembered by her niece/daughter, Joyce Lunstra and her husband, Roger, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Joyce's sons, Bruce Lunstra of Columbus, Ohio, and Dave Lunstra of Brandon, S.D.; Mildred's daughter, LuAnn Funk and her husband, Jim of Sibley, Iowa; LuAnn's children, Scott Funk of Worthington, Minn., Bobbi Funk of Celle, Germany, and her special friend, Jason Carlson of Bloomington, Ind., and Greg Funk and his special friend, Molly Erfman of Sibley; two great-grandsons, Wyatt and William, both of Worthington; a great-granddaughter, Makalia of Sibley; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and three brothers.
