Ardis R. Peters
Ardis R. Peters, 75. of Westfield, Iowa died Thursday, February 15, 1996, at a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.
Services were held Saturday, February 17, 1996, at the United Church of Christ, Westfield, Iowa, with Pastor Marty Healy officiating. Music was "In the Garden" and "Rock of Ages," sung by Shirley Banks, accompanied by Sheryl Banks on the piano. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Akron, Iowa, under direction of Schroeder Funeral Home, Akron. Casket bearers were Kevin Hombs, Kyle Hombs. Kerry Hombs, Danna Hombs, Jo Lynn Black. Jim Black, Greg Black, Douglas Black, Thomas Black, Steve Shuster, Jennifer Peters, and Chad Peters.
Mrs. Peters was born November 7, 1920 In Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Howard E. and Lavina (Hoffman) Morehead. She married Herbert Yates in 1937. He died July 27. 1984. She married John Peters in 1970. He died May 30. 1990. Ardis was a lifelong resident of Plymouth County. She attended Westfield Public School. She worked for Cudahy Packing House, Sioux City, did restaurant work for 15 years, worked for Coilcraft at Hawarden and Zenith in Sioux City. She also worked part time for the Westfield School District.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia (Yates) and her husband David Silhacek of Westfield; her mother, Lavina Newman, Westfield; her brother Lowell Morehead and his wife, Arlene, Westfield; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a step-daughter, Janiece Black and a step-son Donald Peters both of Akron; seven step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Ardis was preceded in death by her father, Howard Morehead; her step-father, Henry Newman; an infant daughter, Michelle; and her husband John Peters.Akron Register Tribune
