HAWARDEN, Iowa - Alice Van Wyk, 84, of Hawarden died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at Hillcrest Health Care Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Community Reformed Church in Hawarden, with the Rev. David Tellinghuisen officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, with the family present 7 to 8 p.m., at Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden.

Mrs. Van Wyk was born April 26, 1915, near Sioux Center, Iowa, the daughter of John H. and Anna (Kruizenga) Rozeboom.

She married Dick Van Wyk on Dec. 12, 1940, in Sioux Center. The couple farmed near Rock Rapids, Iowa for one year and then near Hudson, S.D. Since 1957, they farmed near Hawarden until moving into Hawarden in January 1977. He died May 13, 1977. She entered Hillcrest Care Center in March 1996.

She was a charter member of Community Reformed Church and enjoyed crocheting and gardening.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, John and Betty of Ireton, Iowa, and Gerald and Genee and Stan and Lynette, all of Hawarden; two daughters and their husbands, Diane and Dennis Ten Napel of Ireton and Deb and Ernie Gabel of Akron, Iowa; two brothers and their wives, Gerrit and Kathleen Rozeboom and Marion "Bud" and Gertrude Rozeboom, all of Sioux Center; a sister, Eldine Wegener of Peculiar, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Gertrude Vander Esch of Hawarden and Hendrene Schutt of Warsaw, Ind.; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Kenneth Eugene; and two brothers, James and Dick Rozeboom.
