OCCUPATION: He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1957, stationed in Key West, Fla. He farmed in Plymouth County for 32 years and the last 29 years near Brunsville. He was later employed with Plymouth County road crew, Gene’s Processing of Brunsville, Merrill Locker Plant, Mormon Manufacturing and most recently with Prairie Rose Golf Course.
SURVIVORS: …include his wife; three sons and their wives, Brett and Vicki, Craig and Lisa, and Todd and Kathi, all of LeMars; two daughters and their husbands, Tammy and Patrick Whalen of Alvord, Iowa, and Kari and Travis Lang of LeMars; 12 grandchildren; a sister, Beverly Held of LeMars; and a brother and his wife, Warren and Sheryl Oetken of Merrill, Iowa.
PRECEDED in DEATH by: …his parents; an infant grandson, Matthew Brett Oetken; a daughter-in-law, Theresia Oetken.
