Glen L. Milbrodt, 73, of Akron, Iowa, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2000 at a Sioux City hospital.

Funeral services were Wednesday, May 3, 2000 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Akron, with the Rev. Allen Bidne officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by the Hoschler American Legion Post #186. Schroeder Funeral Home, Akron, was in charge of arrangements.

Pall Bearers were: Jim Henrich, Daryl Port, Doug Schnetzer, Jerry Barwick, Lynn Johnson and Bill Osterbuhr.

Honorary Pall Bearers were: Dennis Carlson, Verle Barwick, George Milbrodt, Artie Milbrodt, Robert Milbrodt, Dale Milbrodt, Darwin Johnson, Dennis Johnson, Marlin Johnson, Hank Koch, Lowell Koch, Norman Morehead and Virgil Morehead.

The organist was Rosanne Osterbuhr with congregational hymns "Eternal Father Strong To Save," "He Lives, Amazing Grace," "He Leadeth Me."

Mr. Milbrodt was born February 1, 1927 in Akron, the son of John and Alma (Miller) Milbrodt. He married Deloris Oltmanns July 27, 1947 in Craig, Iowa.
Mr. Milbrodt was employed at Plymouth Co-op, Jespersen Oil, Hartman Brothers and Akron-Westfield School where he served as custodian for 22 years before retiring in 1990. Mr. Milbrodt enlisted during WWII in the U.S. Navy where he was a survivor of the U.S.S. Indianapolis. He was a member of the U.S.S. Indianapolis Survivors Association. He was active in the American Legion for 54 years and was past Commander in the early 60's. Mr. Milbrodt was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he was on the Church Council and was Church Treasurer and served as an usher.

Survivors include his wife Deloris; two sons, Ken and his wife Lynette and Arlin and his wife Arlene both of Sioux City; three grandchildren, Matt and
his fiancee Kelly Stroh, Michael and Mark; one sister Arlene Johnson and a brother Wayne and his wife Marilyn both of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Don and one brother in law, Bud Johnson.
