Mary E. Moss

Mary E. Moss, 86, of Sioux City died Tuesday, May 16, 1995, at a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.

Services were held Thursday, May 18 at Christy Smith & Hockenberry Morningside Funeral Home with the Rev. William Steward of Grace United Methosist Church officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Moss was born Aug. 11, 1908, in Lake Nebagamon, Wis., the daughter of Arthur L. and mamie (Tucker) Rozell. She moved to Iowa and the Akron area as a child. She spent her early years in the Akron area, moving to Sioux City in 1925. She married Herman G. Moss June 26, 1933, in Dakota City. He died in March 1979 in Sioux City. She had worked for Armour & Co. for a few years and was manager of Red Owl Deli Restaurant for a few years. She then was House Mother for Sigma Phl Epsilon Fraternity at Moringside College for many years and later was manager of the food service department of the Commons at the college.

Mrs. Moss was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Miriam Circle.

Survivors include a daughter, Artis and her husband, Richard Ferguson of Sioux City; three sisters, Mona Smith, and Mae Neunaber, both of Akron, Iowa, and Merva Hartman of Hawarden, Iowa, and three brothers, Alva and his wife Majorie Rozell and Arvil and his wife Charlotte Rozell, all of Le Mars, Iowa, and Arlo Rozell of Akron.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman; three sisters, Mable Willer, Marie Smith, and Muriel Krueger and three brothers, Art, Arden, and Archie.

A memorial has been established in her name with Grace United Methodist Church.
