LONGTIME LE MARS WOMAN IS DEAD AT AGE 96

Mrs. Bertha Remer, 96, longtime LeMars resident, died Sunday at Brentwood nursing home, LeMars, where she had lived for the last five years.

She was born Feb. 3, 1875, at Racine, Wis. She came to Iowa as a small child.

Mrs. Remer had been ill for a month.

Bertha Schumaker and Frank Remer were married Aug. 1, 1900, in LeMars. She was the daughter of the late August and Lena Patzig Schumaker.

She was a member of the Nazarene church and WCTU and Sunshine Club.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Nazarene church in LeMars. Rev. Brandt Freeburg will officiate and burial will be in LeMars Memorial Cemetery under direction of the Mauer funeral home.

Survivors are a son, Lloyd Remer, Sioux City, and step son, George Remer, LeMars; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons; three step children; two sisters and a brother.
