OSCAR J. BALDWIN

Oscar J. Baldwin, 83, Akron, died Wednesday at the Akron hospital of an apparent heart attack.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Ralph Burdett officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery under the direction of the Schroeder Funeral Home.

He was born Sept. 10, 1888, in Iroquois, S. D., and was married Dec. 17, 1913, in Brunsville to Sereldia Heeren. She died Jan. 9 this year.

The couple farmed in South Dakota and moved in 1926 to Akron where he operated a trucking business, retiring in 1955.

Survivors are two sons, Lyle of Alexandria, La., and Marvin of LeMars; a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Small, Akron; two brothers, Clarence of South Sioux City and Lloyd of Merrill; seven grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Oscar J. Baldwin departed this life at the Akron Nursing home, on Wednesday morning, January 19,1972, quite suddenly. He was 83 years old at the time of his death.

Oscar, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph M. Baldwin, was born September 10,1888, in Kingsbury County, Iroquois, South Dakota. On December 17, 1913 Oscar Baldwin was united in marriage with Sereldia Heeren, at Brunsville, Iowa. To this union three children were born, two sons and one daughter. They lived most of their lives in Plymouth County. Early in their married life they farmed and later did farm to market trucking. Mr. and Mrs. Baldwin were.members of the Wesley Methodist Church, which they regularly attended.

Those who remain to mourn his departure include, two sons and one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Small of, Akron, Lyle of Alexandria, Louisiana, and Marvin of Le Mars; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Among those preceding him in death were his wife Sereldia, who passed away just ten days earlier, his parents, one sister, three brothers, and one grandson.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning, at Wesley Methodist Church with Rev. Ralph Burdette officiating. Mrs. Birdie Harris accompanied Mrs. Leona Benda who sang "How Great Thou Art" and "In The Sweet Bye and Bye."

Casket bearers were nephews of the deceased, Norman Heeren, Elmer Heeren, Lowell Baldwin, Ardeth Baldwin, Roger Nylund and Marlys Goodrich.

Final resting place was in the Riverside Cemetery, Akron, Iowa.
