ALICE BELAU

Alice C. Belau, a resident of the Brentwood Nursing Home here since November 1958, passed away August 12, at the Sacred Heart hospital after being hospitalized for four days. Her former place of residence was 1417 Richmond Ave., Des Moines, Iowa. She was 85 years of age.

Miss Belau was a retired grade school teacher. She taught many years in the LeMars schools before going to Des Moines where she taught for 30 years before retiring several years ago. She was the daughter of the late Louise Frase Belau and William Belau. She was never married.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 14, 1959, at the Mauer Funeral Home, LeMars, with Rev. G.O. Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the LeMars City Cemetery under the direction of the Mauer funeral home.

No immediate relatives survive. She is survived by a cousin, Mrs. George Koenig, of LeMars and several other cousins in South Dakota and Wisconsin. She was formerly active in many clubs and organizations in Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Paul and a sister, Lettie.
