Harvey Homan, 61, of Remsen, died Saturday, July 12, 2008, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.

Harvey Homan was born May 31, 1947, at rural Alton, the son of Loyal and Francie Mae "Bib" (Mousel) Homan.

At the age of two, Harvey moved to the Remsen area with his family, where he was raised and received his education at St. Mary Catholic School, graduating in 1965.

He then worked for West Iowa Telephone Co. for a couple of years, for Jack Thiel Repair for a short period, then Farmers Co-Op for more than 20 years, all in Remsen. He then worked for Tyson Food at Orange City for seven years, and then in 1998, began working at Wells' Dairy in Le Mars, where he was currently employed.

On April 19, 1975 he married Beverly Vogt at Remsen where they made their home.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and RIMS Motorcycle Club.

He enjoyed doing carpentry, electrical work and riding his motorcycle.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly; one son, Chad; one daughter, Ryann and her husband Aaron Arnold; his mother, Francie Mae "Bib" Homan, all of Remsen; and one sister, Kim and her husband Randy Frericks of Le Mars.

He was preceded in death by his father, Loyal.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Remsen with the Rev. William McCarthy officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Remsen. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday. There will a be a parish rosary at 3 p.m., a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., and a Knights of Columbus rosary at 8 p.m., all at the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.

Casketbearers will be Chad Homan, Ryann Arnold, Jerry Nacke, Ted Nothem, Wayne Schnepf, Carl Staab. Honorary bearers will be the Knights of Columbus.
